(Yonkers, NY) -- The NTSB says the train in yesterday's deadly derailment in the Bronx was going 82 miles an hour when it jumped the tracks entering a 30 mile-an-hour curve. In a press conference in Yonkers, NTSB member Earl Weener said that's the preliminary indication from event recorders recovered from the wreckage of the train. He also said it's too early to say whether the excessive speed was a result of human error or a malfunction in the braking system. He remarked that the information from the event recorders is still being analyzed and more information will released. New York Senator Chuck Schumer said it's frightening to think how fast the train was going into the curve.
