Civil Discourse?

This video of Shelby County Commissioner Henri Brooks making racially charged comments surfaced last night.

In a debate with a Hispanic contractor, she takes exception to his saying that Hispanics are the "minority of the minority in Memphis".

Check out what she has to say:

"Your situation does not compare to mine. What you are experiencing as a minority has probably been blown out of proportion here. It's not about you as a minority. It's about black folk in Shelby County who are trying to get employment in Shelby County … people who pay taxes. Not to say that you don't," she said.

Commissioner Brooks went on to say, "And let me say one last thing. You asked to come here. You asked to come here; we did not. And when we got here our condition was so egregious, so barbaric … don't ever let that come out of your mouth again ‘cause you know what? That only hurts your case. Don't compare the two they're not comparable."

It's 2014.  This is unreal.

More coming up at 5pm on The Nation of Jake.
