A Tennessee educator appeared on an episode of Wheel of Fortune on Thursday (September 16) as part of the long-running game show's "teacher week."

Emily Keeton is a middle school teacher in Decatur County and an adjunct professor at the University of Tennessee at Martin. She grew up watching Wheel of Fortune so when the opportunity arose for her to apply as a contest, she took it and ultimately was chosen for the show's week dedicated to educators, WKRN reports.

She flew out to Los Angeles with a couple friends in order to film the episode, which aired Thursday night. Not only did Keeton get her chance to play the iconic game, but she left with a big prize — a trip to Barbados. She didn't end up winning the game, losing in a tight competition to a California teacher, the news outlet reports.

Keeton couldn't believe it when she first got to the set, but it is an experience she will always remember.

"I will never forget walking up to Sony Productions that day and I was just like, 'oh, I'm a little girl from Bath Springs, I have no business being here,'" she said. "And I just thought, oh my gosh, I mean it was a very surreal moment, but a fun moment."
